One of the Saturday traditions when we visit our son and daughter-in-law in Athens is to head to Bishop Park for a breakfast biscuit from The Farm Cart. Well, now The Farm Cart has its own sit-down location at 1074 Baxter Street. We made a recent visit, and it did not disappoint.

First, let’s discuss the biscuits – big, soft on the inside, crisp on the outside, flaky, moist. Just absolutely perfect. They are split and filled with either sausage, thick-cut bacon, or ham. Next comes a fried egg, Cheddar cheese, microgreens, and ham – rosemary habanero, strawberry or blueberry. My family talked me into the fried chicken thigh with a fried egg and spicy honey, and that was just awesome.

If, for whatever reason, you don’t think you want or need a biscuit sandwich, you can always order a bagel and cream cheese, or two eggs with grits, or granola, yogurt and fruit.

Expect to pay a pretty penny for this spectacular treat. Four of us each had a sandwich and coffee and our tab was around $60. Was it worth it? You betcha. If Athens wasn’t four hours away, I’d go get a farm biscuit right this minute.
