For more than 40 years I’ve lived on the coast in Savannah, Georgia. I’ve written restaurant reviews, food articles for magazines and newspapers, and cookbooks. I’ve taught cooking classes to preschool, elementary, middle and high school students, as well as to senior citizens. My food is tasty. I use ordinary ingredients. I’m not classically trained. Friends who enjoy my recipes say the directions are easy and they get compliments on the results.

I created this website to share some of my recipes, provide tips on cooking, and to talk about things that are important to me. Enjoy!

Pan-fried Flounder

Pan-fried flounder is one of my oldest recipes, and one of my family’s favorites. The keys to this dish are to get fresh flounder from a reliable source, and to never leave the dish during the short cooking time.

The step-by-step instructions will help you follow along.

benne seed cookies

I like to make a batch of benne seed (sesame seed) cookies during the holidays. One recipes makes 12 dozen cookies. I purchase small tins that hold about a dozen cookies, and give them out as I’m running errands or going to my routine activities. The brown sugar, butter, and benne seed produce an amazing flavor.
